Three members of the Uniting Church in WA have been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM), announced this Australia Day.
Beverley Bird, resident organist at Albany Wesley Uniting Church since 1959, won a medal for her service to music and to the community of Albany; Helen Creagh, volunteer with Prison Fellowship WA and secretary at Mundaring Uniting Church won a medal for her service to the community of Mundaring; and Shirley Stanbury, choir conductor in schools and the church since 1957, and the pianist at Busselton Uniting Church, also won a medal for her service to music and to the community of Busselton.
Alma Hudson, from Broome Uniting Church, part of the Northern Synod, was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her work translating part of the Bible into the Walmajarri language.
