Rev Brenton Prigge has been in placement as a First Third Specialist for the South West Region since March 2009. He will be leaving WA in October to take-up a new placement in Queensland.
Brenton immigrated to Australia from South Africa with his family after his ordination in the Methodist Church of Southern Africa. He was admitted as a Minister of the Uniting Church in Australia in 2014.
Rev Hollis Wilson, Past Convener of the First Third Working Group shares his thanks for Brenton’s intergenerational ministry in WA.
It has been my pleasure to know Brenton since I was appointed as Convener of the First Third Working Group in 2012. But of course, Brenton’s engagement in First Third Ministry long predates this period.
Brenton has been a pioneer for the Presbytery of WA and the whole Uniting Church in the successful implementation of the intergenerational ministry that we call, ‘First Third’.
A skilled practitioner in Mission Centred Ministry, as well as Messy Church and Godly Play, Brenton has been a significant leader and resource for Western Australia and most certainly for the congregations that he served in the South West region.
His musical skills are significant and those that witnessed his performance at the Annual Meeting of the Synod of WA in 2013 will fondly remember his composition dedicated to First Third Ministry, performed alongside his colleague, Paul Montague.
As a South African migrant, Brenton has most certainly embodied the culture and ethos of the Uniting Church. As a colleague and friend, I have and will continue to value his genuine friendship, great sense of humour and unshakeable commitment to the Church of Jesus Christ.
