Older people in Perth’s north eastern and Hills suburbs can gain access to care and support designed to maintain their independence and quality of life at home.
Juniper, part of WA’s UnitingCare network, delivers a full range of home care services that can be an effective option for older people who want to live independently at home but may need assistance.
Juniper community executive manager, Daymon Joseph, said the organisation’s care packages are for people aged 65 and over, or 50-plus for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander clients.
“We understand that support in the home may be a new opportunity for some, so our aim is to help people live their life on their terms,” he said.
“Juniper offers a wide range of home care services from low to high level care that can help individuals maintain an independent and happy life and remain in their own home for as long as possible.”
Low care services (Level 1 and 2 care packages) can assist with everyday tasks and offer discreet support and help at home including:
- personal care and light domestic assistance
- help with meal planning and cooking
- medication prompts and help with medical appointments
- social support to connect with family and friends.
High care (Level 3 and 4 packages) offer greater assistance including those with dementia related needs, services include nursing, meals, oxygen/enteral feeding assistance, domestic and personal support as well as transport and allied health.
“Our clients benefit from help delivered with compassion and respect by professional staff and, as their circumstances change, our services can respond so the right kind of care and support are available,” Damon said.
Juniper Community’s services may attract government subsidies and aged care packages require an aged care assessment.
