Giving thanks for the life of Grant Adams

After a long illness, Grant Adams died in the Kalamunda Hospice on the afternoon of 12 June 2019.

Grant made an enormous contribution to the life of the Uniting Church as General Manager of Good Samaritan Industries (GSI) and in leading seminars on ‘Church Renewal’ in many of our parishes.

Grant was appointed to GSI in the early 1980’s at a time when the company had a huge debt and was in danger of becoming bankrupt. His leadership enabled GSI to discharge that debt well before his retirement.

The number of people working for the organisation at the time was around five hundred. Grant made it his practice to know everyone by name. He was often seen at work benches in the main warehouse in Canning Vale working alongside members of staff.

After retirement Grant made himself available, free of charge, to lead highly successful seminars in parishes on “What does it mean for us to be the Church?’

His commitment to Jesus as Lord informed his life and witness and for his contribution to the church’s life we owe an enormous amount of gratitude.

We also give thanks to his wife Jean who gave up a lot of family time in supporting Grant’s generous commitment.

To Jean and families we offer our sincere sympathy.

A funeral service for Grant will be held on Friday 21 June, 2.00pm, at St Barnabas Anglican Parish Church, 40 Railway Road Kalamunda.
