Rev Dr Sonny Rajamoney was Inducted into Northway Uniting Church, in Beldon, on Sunday 8 November.
Susy Thomas, Moderator of the Uniting Church WA, delivered the Proclamation of the Word.
Sonny responded to his Induction and thanked the Presbytery of WA, members of the congregation, and his family for supporting his call to ministry at Northway Uniting Church. He said he is inspired to minister with the church in a new world.
“The church today is faced with a multiplicity of socio-economic, socio-political, environmental challenges. The church is in the midst of being tested for its relevance. And so, I believe we need to rediscover what the witness of the church needs to be in these times,” Sonny said.
Sonny quoted St Francis of Assisi when he said: “Preach the gospel at all times. If necessary, use words.”
“I have for a long time tried to pursue this in my ministry,” Sonny said.
“I take ministry very seriously; I love it. I’m passionate about ministry, but I cant do ministry without you. We are all in this team ministry.
“I want to hear your stories, as I share my stories with you. I want to hear your theology, as I invite you to hear my theology. I’d like to hear where you’re at in your journey of faith, as id like you to have a glimpse of where I am as a pilgrim on a journey.”
Sonny ended with a quote from celebrated poet and playwright Robert Browning, who said “The best is yet to be.”
