Palm Sunday pony rides

Girl and PonySpearwood Uniting Church is inviting people of all ages to join in the fun on Palm Sunday at their all age service. An outdoor service will  be held on the church grounds, followed by free pony rides for the kids and a barbeque brunch and morning tea.

Playing on an old  tradition of riding a donkey into church on Palm Sunday as a retelling of the story of Jesus riding into Jerusalem, the pony rides will add  a fun flair to the day.

Paul Montague, First Third specialist for the Metro South Region, said the morning will be an opportunity for the church to share its  space with the community.

“Our vision and our strategy at Spearwood is about utilising this wonderful space we have in a very prominent and visible place. Part of  that is being a kind of ‘village square’ and having a sense of open house where neighbours can just drop in,” Paul said.

“It’s a way of being hospitable to the neighbours.”

All are welcome at this community event at Spearwood Uniting Church, 330 Rockingham Rd, starting at 9.30am.
