Health seminar unlocks perfect portions

Juniper, a Uniting Church in WA agency and one of Western Australia’s largest providers of retirement, residential and home aged care, brings a free information session for seniors, families and friends to help people maintain a healthy weight.

Ever wanted to know the difference between a portion and a serve and how it can enable you to lose weight? Or how to read those confusing numbers in food packaging?

Juniper Community Nurse Janet Anderson and Dietician Caitlin Warren will be in Byford this month to host a Wellness Seminar to help seniors discover ways of achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.

“Losing weight and keeping it off is a challenge but it is a critical factor in good health, especially for older people,” Janet said.

“We encourage people to come to the session which has easy to understand and practical information that can be used straight away.”

Janet said by eating well and maintaining an ideal weight, older people can maximise their enjoyment of life, improve their relationships with others and increase their independence.

This one-hour seminar, at no cost to all seniors, families and friends, will be held at Byford Hall, South Western Highway, Byford, from 10.30am on Tuesday 17 June.

Juniper delivers a range of services and supports to enable older people to live independently in their own home.
