Gather your voices for justice

Micah Australia’s Voices for Justice National Gathering is an opportunity to raise your voice and influence our nation’s leaders on behalf of the world’s poorest people in the lead up to the 2016 election.

Join together with like-minded Christians from around the country to pray and worship, be equipped and trained for advocacy, and speak out for a world of justice and compassion as you meet with federal politicians in Parliament House.

The program includes a day spent at Parliament House; as well as a dedicated prayer room, a market place and workshops. There’ll also be programs for primary and high school age people.

Cherry Johnson, from NSW, attended Voices for Justice in 2014.

“My experience at Voices well and truly awakened me to the genuine power of advocacy – of people being prepared to learn and speak about things of great importance to God. This was a tangible way to live out my desire to see God’s justice seep more fully into the world,” Cherry said.

Ben Thurley, national co-ordinator of Micah Australia, said that an election year provides a great opportunity for advocates to raise their voices.

“In an election year our politicians are listening to their constituents more than ever. We therefore have a significant opportunity this year to raise our voices and influence our nation’s leaders on behalf of the world’s poorest people in the lead up to the 2016 election,” Ben said.

The national gathering will be held in Canberra from 18–20 June, and this year there will also be events held in Queensland and South Australia in July. Registrations close 22 May. For more details, visit www.micahaustralia.org/voicesforjustice.
