In 1897, businessman Charles Moore Esq, supported by a significant committee including 15 ministers representing churches in the expanding area of Perth, began the huge task of raising sufficient money to establish a local children’s hospital.
With the impending closure of Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH), we want to ensure that the beginnings and journey of this hospital are not forgotten. To celebrate the life of our hospital, the Association of PMH ExTrainees
and Nursing Associates is commissioning a beautiful five panel stained glass artwork for the Multi Faith Centre at the new Perth Children’s Hospital.
Vaughn Bisschops, has created an amazing beginning to the design of this artwork. He has enabled us to include sketches of the 1909 Outpatients Building, which is the current Multi Faith Centre at PMH, various other cherished areas, and memories of the last 108 years.
It is an inspirational and movingly spiritual creation, designed to embrace all who see it; for those who have a faith and for those who are seeking reassurance and hope.
Most families in Western Australia have been involved with PMH in some way. We have all seen and known the hospital as a trusted place that will be there ready to care for the children of the state no matter what their need has been, and without discrimination.
The ExTrainees and Nursing Associates invite you to be a part of this project by funding a portion of this Stained Glass Artwork. Each piece of the glass in each panel will be numbered, and donations of $30 and over will be acknowledged against the piece of artwork chosen for you, in the publication that will be produced for the unveiling of this inspiring and contemplative artwork. A donation to this project would make a great Christmas present for loved ones who have been part of PMH’s history.
