Nature playground to land in South Perth

The South Perth Early Childhood Centre, at South Perth Uniting Church, is looking forward to a major upgrade of it’s outdoor playground, after receiving a $65 000 grant from Lotterywest.

Hon Kate Doust MLC, Member for the South Metropolitan Region, presented the grant this morning to Noelene Moir, Director of the South Perth Early Childhood Centre, and Ronni Naughton, Chair of the Management Committee.

The innovative nature playground will feature a dry creek bed, sand pit, ride on creatures, textured pathways, a sensory wall, plus much more. It has been designed by Bernhard Kaiser, from Nature Play WA, a not for profit organisation encouraging unstructured outdoor nature play for WA children.

The South Perth Early Childhood Centre opened in 1993. This will be the first major upgrade since then, with work expecting to start in four weeks and to be completed by December.

The Centre are planning to hold events in the near future to raise more funds needed for the project.
