Explore Creative Worship this Summer Spirit

Summer Spirit is back in 2021, with a focus on Creative Worship.

Summer Spirit is a two-day formation event for members and leaders of the Uniting Church WA, organised by the Commission for Education for Discipleship and Leadership (CEDAL).

Next year’s event will be held from Friday 19 to Saturday 20 February at All Saints Floreat Uniting Church.

Keynote speakers include Pastor Tamara Tolman and Rev Amelia Koh Butler.

Tamara is the Lead Pastor of a Churches of Christ intergenerational faith community in NSW and is currently doing her PhD in Intergenerational Ministry. Amelia is a Uniting Church Minister, currently working as a University Chaplain in NSW. She co-ordinates the Assembly Transforming Worship Circle.

There will also be a Messy Church Muster plus workshops on drama, spirituality, and using Lego and Minecraft to explore biblical stories.

Rev Dr Anne Wright, Director of Education and Formation for the Uniting Church WA, said the event will aim to inspire people to create worship that breaks out of the ‘four-hymn sandwich’ that church services are so often used to.

“Let’s move away from the four-hymn sandwich,” Anne said. “What else can you do that’s creative. What else can you do that will bring life to the worship, because it’s one of the most core things we do as a group.”

Summer Spirit early bird registration is open until Thursday 31 December for $135.
