World Day of Prayer

This year, on Friday 4 March, people around the world celebrated World Day of Prayer with a service prepared by women in Cuba.

Foothills St Martin’s Uniting Church, in Forrestfield, hosted the service for their area in which the participants came from several local churches.

The theme for the day was ‘Receive children, receive me.’ Foothills St Martin’s Uniting Church provided a preacher, Robert Watson; a speaker, Rita Lennon, a librarian; and others who carried symbols and provided morning tea.

Pilgrimage of Unity

The Council of Churches of Western Australia are offering an amazing opportunity to explore the City of Perth church denominations in this year’s Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, ending with a pilgrimage march.

The Pilgrimage for Unity will be launched at Elizabeth Quay by the Lord Mayor of the City of Perth and the Heads of Churches on Monday 9 May, 12noon.

The week will continue with events at all the city churches. There are many interesting things to choose from, such as the bell ringing rehearsal at St George’s Cathedral; a guided tour of St Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church; a talk and tour of the Baptist Church; or Mass, a tour and a talk at St Mary’s Cathedral.
